Who We Are
Keeping Banking Simple Since 1954
The credit union is built upon our partnership with you, our members. We are a cooperative, meaning everyone matters. Every savings account, every loan, every debit card provides help to a fellow member who is wallowing in debt due to a harsh winter’s fuel payments or to proud new grandparents beginning to tuck money away for their grandchild’s education.
To all CCFCU Members – Thank You.
The People Of CCFCU

History
Keeping Banking Simple
On May 17, 1954, “Cumberland County Teachers Federal Credit Union” (CCTFCU) was organized by a group of teachers to provide savings and lending products to fellow educators and their families.
Deposits were made on the porch.
Loans were granted and closed with a promise and a handshake.
In 1973, we expanded our field of membership to include Cumberland County municipal employees and their families. Not long after, we merged with Portland Teachers Credit Union in order to help more Maine people. Members told their family and friends how their credit union helped them borrow money for a car or save for a down payment on a home. Our membership grew based on strong values and ties to the community.
CCTFCU became a community credit union in 2005 by opening our field of membership to people who work, live, or study in Cumberland and/or York counties, Maine. At that time, “Teachers” was removed from the name, and we became known as Cumberland County Federal Credit Union (CCFCU).
A like-minded credit union, Portland Regional Federal Credit Union (PRFCU) merged with CCFCU in 2006. PRFCU’s field of membership included employees of the Maine Turnpike Authority, Portland Water District, Oakhurst Dairy, and Maine Broadcasting.
CCFCU is locally operated and member-owned. We are a group of people brought together with a common goal: to help our members and our communities. To help fellow Mainers – like you – with their financial needs.
We ask our members why they chose CCFCU for their banking needs. More often than not, we hear that family or friends told them about us.
We helped so much that someone told our story. It doesn’t get any better than that.
How to Join
When you open your CCFCU account, you become part owner of the credit union.
CCFCU is a locally-operated, member-owned, not-for-profit, cooperative financial institution that is owned and controlled by its members. We differ from banks and other financial institutions in that there are no external shareholders. Profits from the credit union are distributed to members – you – in the form of dividends, lower loan rates, and lower fees.
Join CCFCU today and receive all the benefits that credit union membership has to offer. You’ll notice the difference between being a CCFCU member/owner and a bank customer immediately.
